PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the online home of the RVMAA - Recreational Vehicle Manufacturers Association of Australia.

Our Association represents all sectors of RV manufacturing in Australia, including tent-trailers, camper trailers and pop-tops, caravans, motorhomes and campervans, slide-ons and 5th-wheelers. It is estimated that RVMAA represents over 90% of major RV manufacturers in Australia.

Australians love their RVs, and RVMAA Members are committed to designing and building RVs to suit the unique Australian environment. Safety and quality are the keys to the RVs they make, underpinned by compliance with all the relevant Australian Standards and Australian Design Rules. The RVMAA visits all its Members twice a year to audit their factories and the RVs they produce, so Members really have to earn the RVMAA Badge on their RVs.

Demand for Australian-made RVs has grown strongly in recent years, and in 2010 it reached a 30-year record of more than 21,000 units. That’s the most caravans and RVs made in Australia since 1980, and it reflects how people appreciate the freedom and enjoyment to be had in a quality Australian RV.

Thanks to the wide variety of fine RVs available, the attraction of affordable holiday travel within Australia is still within easy reach of virtually all Australians, no matter their needs, wants and budgets. If you haven’t looked at a modern RV lately, you might be surprised at what’s available in the very broad spectrum from budget tent trailers to luxury motorhomes.

When you make that life-changing decision to go caravanning or RV-ing, look for the RVMAA Badge on the RV you buy. It is the Member’s assurance of compliance and safety. Our Members are also bound by the RVMAA Code of Practice, so you can buy with confidence when you see the RVMAA Badge.

Results of our RVMAA audits confirm that our Members’ products have improved steadily over the years, which is good news not only for newcomers to RV ownership but also for those who may be looking to update or upgrade. Today’s RVs are safer, better built, of higher quality and offer more creature comforts than ever. Not only to they meet tough official rules and standards, but they meet the high expectations of today’s consumers.

The RVMAA is dedicated to continuous improvement in the standard and quality of products and services offered by our Members. We are also committed to training and education to ensure the standards of the future. The reward for our customers is a wonderful leisure lifestyle; the reward for our Members is when they look at people enjoying this lifestyle and say with pride: “I made that van”!
